Antique Black Forest hand carved dancing bear. Made from Linden Wood, hand carved with mechanical arms and legs,when the cord is pulled the bears arms and legs lift up and down, complete with the original glass bead attached to the pull cord. C1880
This whimsical bear is intricately carved in linden wood, showing great detail in hair, teeth and tongue. This bear remains in original condition.
Black Forest carvings were thought to originate in Bavaria, and are referred to as German. Research in recent decades shows that the style originated in Brienz, Switzerland in the mid 19th century.
A really lovely piece of Black Forest Folk Art, would make a great addition to any collector.
