Description
1940s French Estate Bank Of Drawers Eight Drawers. A crudely made solid chest of pitch pine French drawers original throughout. The framed carcass is made of pine, the drawers and drawers fronts all made from pitch pine. The drawers retain their original handles and each drawers has a lock which indicates it was probably an estate set of drawers used to secure documents. The top has a crude slot in the top which was probably originally used as a coin slot for depositing rent payments. The slot has been crudely blocked with nails and we have left it as it is. Our workshop has gently cleaned and restored the chest so all drawers run smoothly. A lovely piece of character, probably 1930s but we have marked it conservatively as 1940s. Internal drawer dimensions 42L x 50W x 10H.
