Description
A beautifully ethereal mid century modernist winter landscape scene, painted in oil onto canvas. This semi abstract landscape features a pertinently restrained colour palette, with the artist showing off his mastery and skill in using a limited palette to create a composition with such depth and profundity. To the bottom of the composition with see fragmented lines and hard-edged forms that captures the essence of the icy ground. Amongst the sea of blue and white we see a flicker of yellow, where the sun and its reflection is visible. The artist has use both brush and palette knife, creating different layers, both softer and gentler sections as well as more angular, textured areas. The painting is housed in a wood and gilt frame with an inner linen border. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition. The frame has some minor scuffing.
