Description
The Robert Picault bonbonnire, made in Vallauris in the 1950s, embodies the essence of the unique style of this great French ceramist. Working closely with renowned artists such as Picasso and Roger Capron, Picault developed an innovative technique by creating his own blend, alquifoux. His work is distinguished by geometric motifs inspired by the Muslim Middle Ages, in two-color process, with dominant hues of blue, manganese and especially green. This bonbonnire, signed “Picault” in all caps, bears witness to his exceptional expertise and commitment to craftsmanship. After his departure, industrial pieces took on the “RP” signature, but his personal creations remain highly sought-after by passionate collectors. This elegant piece is a true treasure of the Cte d’Azur’s artistic heritage.
