Description

Picasso Museum Poster of Madamme Canals by Pablo Picasso. Manufactured in Spain, circa 1966. In original condition with minor wear consistent of age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Materials: Paper Dimensions: D 0.1 cm x W 754.5 cm x H 76.5 cm. This historic poster was published in 1966 by the Picasso Museum of Barcelona in commemoration of Pablo Picasso’s 85th birthday. PABLO PICASSO (Mlaga, 1881 Mougnis, 1973). One of the most important and influential artists of the 20th century, his art left a profound impact on the development of modern and contemporary art. He was born into the family of the painter Jos Lus Blasco, who influenced the young artist’s introduction to art. For a few years, Picasso lived in La Corua, Barcelona and Madrid (where he studied at the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts). At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th he began to travel to Paris until, in 1904, he decided to settle in the French capital. His art is traditionally divided into several periods, although their names are still disputed by many art historians: The Blue Period, The Pink Period, the Proto-Cubist Period where the influence of African art is obvious, Cubism – which is divided into Analytical and Synthetic Cubism -, Neoclassicism, Surrealism and Expressionism.
