This artist is considered the most authentic painter in the field of jazz. Musicians, organizers and publishers from all over the world ask him to create record covers, posters and exhibit his works.
Sacha chimkevitch In 1937, he discovered jazz. He frequented the Swing Club de Paris, located at the toile swimming pool, rue de Tilsit, and there he met some of the rising stars of French jazz: Alix Combelle, Dany Polo and Stphane Grappelli. His Parisian outings at this time led him to meet other musicians such as Django and Joseph Reinhardt, the Salvador brothers, Aim Barelli, Andr Ekyan and many others. In the clubs he frequented, black American musicians passing through Paris also performed.
He exhibited his works very regularly from 1951: in Paris in public places: Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris, House of Chemistry, Roybet Fould Museum, but also in various galleries and jazz clubs . He also exhibits in Caen and its region2 where he draws his inspiration for his landscapes of beaches, ports and lively streets. He was also requested on various occasions abroad, notably in the United States, in Washington (1963), in Baltimore (1975), in New Orleans (1985), then in New York (1989), in Scotland in Aberdeen (1971-1972), in Germany in Oldenburg (1982) then in Hanover (1987)
He obtained several orders from the French State for watercolors and greeting cards (notably for Georges Pompidou). He creates decorative panels for the Manila and Hong Kong offices of Air France. The city of Paris bought paintings from him. He also worked for advertising purposes, in 1967 for Sud Aviation and in 1972 for Arospatiale and SFENA. Several of his lithographs are published in the United States and Japan. On the theme of jazz, he created numerous posters as well as jazz CD covers.
