Description
Magnificent statuette or Okimono representing a Daruma, Buddhist monk, in Japanese sandstone/ceramic craftsmanship from Bizen, vintage/old early or mid 20th century. Standing posture, arm crossed in his hooded outfit, pupils, nostrils and ears perforated, a hole at the back also. A mark lower left on the back, probably illegible identification mark. Ash enamel, in nuanced, shiny yellow-brown tones. 26-27cm in height, 12cm in max width, approximately 10cm in max depth. Very good condition, a few chips under the base, extremely discreet because underneath. Small enamel defect on the left shoulder and arm, original and harmonious. Around 4kg. Beautiful rare piece with original enamel for this type of object.
