Description
“Virgin And Child In 18th Century Earthenware” Earthenware Virgin Mary in labor, probably from Nevers. The Virgin Mary in labor is a statuette frequently found in homes from the 18th to the 19th century. On the Virgin’s head, there is a hollowed-out crown with a two-centimeter diameter hole at the bottom. This hole was used to pour holy water into the statuette, but more importantly, to place a candle that was lit when the woman’s labor began. Regarding the condition, there are minor flaws, firing defects, and traces of wear and friction typical of this type of object. Our photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the object.
