Description
A minimalist and serene mid-century modernist style composition, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden. The focal point of the composition are three figures in black attire, each depicted in an enigmatic stance. They are depicted against abstracted architectural buildings that has been simplified into white cubic structures of differing heights, stretching out into the distance. The palette is restrained, dominated by soft, neutral tones of white and beige. These soft colours create a subdued atmosphere, evoking a sense of tranquillity. The black silhouettes of the figures create a stark visual contrast, grounding the composition. The brushwork is smooth and deliberate, with an emphasis on flat, even application of paint to create clean lines, imbuing a sense of calmness throughout the artwork. This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary frame with an inner cream border. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition. Size: 49 x 56 cm (including frame)
