Description
Small French Abstract Modern Composition in Olive-Grey-Red by Ren Leindner (New professional handcrafted frame with shadow gap) Student at the Strasbourg Art School, then in Paris, Montparnasse district. In Paris, he rubs shoulders with Sonia Delaunay, Viera Da Silva, Giacometti and Bissire. He participates in various group exhibitions. His works appear in the Museum of Modern Art of the city of Paris, in the Museum of Strasbourg and in numerous French and international private collections. Between the sixties and seventies, he turned towards a semi-figuration, symbolized by a work of material (relief paste). Pierre Brisset said, about his work: “Do not miss it at any price, so that in your turn, you experience the rare pleasure of discovery.” There is a 2nd small painting we offer from the painter, please see the last photo. Ren Leidner was a French painter born in Colmar on July 1, 1921 and died in Paris on March 20, 2004. nce Ren Leidner’s first ambition was a career in the diplomatic service, he began legal studies, which were interrupted by the outbreak of the Second World War. Taking refuge in the Jura mountains, he turned definitively to painting in 1941, practicing watercolors in a style suggestive of Camille Corot, while frequenting the Swiss anthroposophical circle founded by Rudolf Steiner, which was oriented towards the occult sciences and theosophy, and with which he eventually broke. He went on to study at the cole suprieure des arts dcoratifs in Strasbourg, then, in 1949, at the cole nationale suprieure des beaux-arts in Paris, where he also attended the Acadmie Baudry for three years. Ren Leidner’s painting became abstract as early as 1950, at a time when he was hanging out with Sonia Delaunay, Maria Elena Vieira da Silva and Alberto Giacometti in Montparnasse, but when his most important encounter was with Roger Bissire. In 1960, he turned to semi-figuration, suggesting bodies, witches, archangels, wounded men and dinosaurs in a thick paste. Then, in 1970, still working in highly materialistic canvases, he returned to the path of abstract landscapes, which he called “creation d’espaces concrets” (creation of concrete spaces). A drawing master, Ren Leidner’s pupils included lisabeth Pommereul, who won the Prix de la Jeune Peinture in 1991.
