Description
Pair of fish, red jasper, s. XX China
Exceptional pair of fish of Chinese origin sculpted in a single block of red jasper. The use of red jasper in these pieces not only provides beauty, but also gives them a symbolic meaning, since in many cultures, this stone is associated with vitality, strength and protection, which fits perfectly with the image of the fish, symbols of fluidity, abundance and constant movement. The stone’s polished finish and natural veining enhances its nuances, while detailed carving on the fins and scales creates a contrast between smooth and rough surfaces. The yellow eyes contrast with the body and increase realism.
The symbolic relationship with Chinese culture also stands out; In Chinese tradition, fish have a strong meaning associated with prosperity, abundance and good fortune. They are usually represented in pairs, as in this case, which can symbolize marital harmony and happiness as a couple, a concept linked to Taoism and feng shui. Additionally, red jasper in Eastern tradition is associated with vital energy, protection and strength.
Thanks to its fluid lines they almost seem to swim in the air. Collectible pieces, perfect as a gift and to decorate any environment.
