Description
This rare and iconic A2-1 dining chair by Mart Stam, designed in 1947, is a remarkable example of Dutch modernism. Crafted from oak with a rattan seat and rope back, the chair seamlessly blends into modern, rustic, and wabi-sabi inspired interiors. As a key figure in the development of Dutch modernism, Stam’s design influences extended internationally through his connections with architects like Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and artists such as El Lissitzky. The A2-1 chair was part of the first collection of the Goed Wonen Foundation in 1948, cementing its place in design history. This chair is offered in its original vintage condition, showing authentic signs of wear consistent with age and use. While it could benefit from minor restoration, we have chosen to preserve its originality for collectors and design enthusiasts who value its patina and historical significance.
