Outskirts of Milan is an original modern artwork realized by the Italian artist Alberto Salietti (Ravenna, 1892 – Chiavari, 1961) in the 1940s. Original Etching on Ivory paper. Image Dimensions: 18.7 x 25 cm Hand-signed by the artist in pencil on the lower right corner: Salietti. Numbered in pencil on the lower left corner: 5/25. Edition of 25 prints. Very good conditions. Excellent etching depicting a glimpse of the outskirts of Milan. The sky is characterized by diagonal sections and the main buildings are on the right and on the foreground. Along the avenue we see some walking characters. This work has been realized by the Italian artist Alberto Salietti (Ravenna, 1892 – Chiavari, 1961). Salietti was an Italian painter. He attended the Brera Academy until 1914, where he met Cesare Tallone and Mentessi. After participating in the First World War, he exhibited from 1920 at the Venice Biennial (in 1942, receiving the Grand Prix for painting). Other exhibitions: the Barcelona International, 1929; the Budapest International, 1936; the Carnegie Institute Exhibition in Pittsburg, 1936; the Paris World Exhibition, 1937; the II and III Rome Quadrenniale; the exhibition La Bella Italiana, in Milan, in 1952; the Marzotto Prize, in 1955 and 1956; the Garzanti Prize in 1957; the Milan City Council Award in 1959; the gold medal in Florence, at the Fiorino Prize, in 1961; the XXII Biennial of Art at Permanente in Milan, in 1961, the Bagutta-Vergani prize. Salietti is one of the painters that the entrepreneur Giuseppe Verzocchi contacts for his large collection of paintings on the theme of work. He is one of the founders of the ”Novecento Italiano”. His main subjects are landscapes, portraits and still lifes. He has works in public galleries: in Rome, Florence, Milan, Turin, Berlin, Zurich, Munich, Bern, Montevideo, Cleveland, Moscow, Paris.
