Round plate in bronze and cloisonn enamel designed in China in the 20th century.
This plate is made of bronze and cloisonn enamel, a goldsmithing technique originally applied to jewellery design. The polychrome decorations depict a sparrow resting on a cherry tree branch. Pink peonies and multi-coloured cherry blossoms coexist against a blue background. The scenes are bordered by friezes with ornamental motifs. Plates with precise decorations and cheerful colours naturally attract the eye.
