Description
Woman’s Portrait in shadow is an original drawing in ink and pen realized by Bruno Saetti in 1940. Hand-signed on the lower right margin. Titled on the lower in pencil, with the description. Very good condition. Included a Passepartout: 50 x 35 cm, the original Passepartout has a cutting on the left with some folding on margins. Bruno Saetti (Bologna, 1902 – Bologna, 1984) was a popular Italian painter and engraver. Painter of sensual female nudes, maternity and landscapes, but also of symbolic figures, Saetti refuses the avant-gardes languages and attests to an Expressionist realism supported by a strict compositional rigor. He held an anthological exhibition in Venice in 1975 and in Florence in 1979. His works appear both in Italian museums (including the Novecento Museum and the MAMbo in Bologna) and abroad (Amsterdam, Madrid, Warsaw, Zagreb, Zurich, Tokyo) and are the subject of important exhibitions.
