A dynamic composition of swirling and fighting characters. In times when there was no photography, such graphics were a source of knowledge about what various historical events looked like.
Napoleonic troops fighting in Italy. Characters spread over several plans, warfare strategically distributed, some attack from the escarpment, others near the water reservoir, subsequent groups of fighters swirl in the graphics. Two-thirds of the composition is a beautiful, cloudy sky. In the background the architecture of Mantua

Carel Vernet, or actually Antoine Charles Horace Vernet, is a famous French painter and graphic artist at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, the father of Horace Vernet. Napoleon’s painter, he dealt mainly with battle themes. He made his graphics using lithography.
