Description
An original early 19th-century watercolour painting Dundas Aqueduct, Limpley Stoke towards Bradford on Avon.A beautiful topographical drawing in grisaille wash, showing an early view at Dundas Aqueduct over the Avon at Limpley Stoke near Bradford on Avon. This drawing likely dates from the first decade of the 19th century, shortly after the completion of the Kennet and Avon Canal section from Bath to Foxhangers in 1804.The drawing has a freedom that seems to represent the transition between tinted topographical drawing and the bolder, more fully developed manner of watercolour painting characteristic of the 19th century, associated with artists such as John Varley and the Monro School. On wove paper. There is an additional watercolour sketch on the verso. All artworks come with a Certificate of Authenticity andif it is a collection artworkits accompanying collection text or artist biography.
