Edith Annie Laidman (1880-1943) was a painter, sculptor and ceramist born in Muzaffarnagar, a district of the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, where her father, a civil servant, worked in the Indian government.
Daphne comes from Greek mythology. Naiad nymph, she was the daughter of a river god, who transforms herself into a laurel tree to escape Apollo’s advances.
