Description
Primitively decorated/painted bridal cupboard from Germany, to be precise from the Swabian Alps. The cupboard has a very rustic appearance and shows plenty of character. This cabinet is in good condition considering its age, although there are of course some light signs of use. For example, some old woodworm traces can be observed sporadically, which have of course been checked again. The decorative moldings at the bottom and the crest were replaced at some point. The cupboard has a well-functioning lock with key and is equipped with shelves and coat hooks on the inside. This is the original layout, you can easily add shelves if desired. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed on the farm in a stately room that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This copy dates from around 1800. The case can be dismantled (two parts). 199cm high, 128cm wide, 52cm deep.
