Description
Guitar Player is an original print, realized in 1861 by the French artist Franois Bonvin. Black and white etching on paper. The artwork is attached on passpartout: 55 x 38 cm. Good conditions, except for some ripples along the margins. Franois Bonvin (1817-1887) was a French painter, who joined the Realist movement of XIX Century. His earliest painting was a still life, a subject for which he would be recognized by contemporary critics and collectors as a leader in reviving and developing the genre. In 1859, he held a studio exhibition of the works of young artists who had been rejected by the Salon, including Legros, McNeill Whislter, Ribot. Bonvin’s rendering of light and colour situated him as a precursor of the Impressionists.
