Description
This sculpture takes the forms and innovations of Russian artists such as Naum Gabo and Vladimir Tatlin from the beginning of the 20th century. These so-called Constructivists wanted art to directly reflect the new industrial world, described by Tatlin ‘as a purely technical mastery and organisation of materials.’ Nahum Villlia is the son of Moises Villlia (1928-1994), who was a prominent Spanish artist who explored floating forms in space, in the manner of Alexander Calder and inspired by Conceptualism. Various works by Nahum Villlia are in the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona .
