Description
Table lamp clock produced in the early 1980s, postmodern, made of lacquered metal, with red lamp-shaped dial on a black background. “Missiani” signature visible on the dial.
It is part of a stock of watches that came from a store closed decades ago and miraculously returned to light.
The various levels of geometric background emphasize the shapes, giving movement and particular geometry to the object, thus becoming not a simple watch but a particular collector’s and design object.
Measures 21cm. tall and 17 cm. wide, with a circular base of 14 cm..
Processing voltage both 110 and 220
Very good condition, may have some signs of age.
The actual collective was born from an informal meeting organized by Sottsass in his Milanese home on 11 December 1980, to generally discuss new expressive forms linked to design; together with De Lucchi, colleagues Aldo Cibic, Matteo Thun, Marco Zanini and Martine Bedin participated in the invitation. Together, they decided to create a working group as a reaction to the style that had characterized the design of the 70s, very minimalist, considered without personality and characterized by a glossy appearance as well as lackluster colours, primarily black.
