The Hungarian artist Judit Burin designed the Erika chair in 1959. She was inspired by the chair of French designer, Pierre Guariche Tonneau. Erika was produced by the SZKIV (Chair and Upholstery Industry Factory) in tens of thousands of copies. The chair was used in almost all Hungarian households during the socialist period.
