Portrait is an original black and white etching realized in 1914 by Thophile Alexandre Steinlen. Signed and dated on the plate on the lower left. Image Dimensions: 15 x 11.5 cm. Good conditions. This black and white etching represents the portrait with perfect hatchings.. Thophile Alexandre Steinlen (18591923), was a Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker. In 1878, Thophile Alexandre Steinlen went to Paris, where he initially earned a living as a technical draftsman. In 1883, he met and made friends with artists like Toulouse-Lautrec, Aristide Bruant, Vallaton, and Alphone Allais. In 1884, he held his first exhibition at La Bodinire. In 1885, Thophile Alexandre Steinlen drew the first of his famous posters: a poster for the Hotel de Paris in Trouville sur Mer.
