Description
Magnificent carafe (Demijohn/Damme Jeanne). With hand-blown glass, 1940. It presents the brand V. Levante (Spain) engraved on the crown. The glass has a wrap made in the palm that was made to prevent it from breaking. The palm (Chamaerops humilis) is a plant that belongs to the palm family (Arecaceae). Although today there are other varieties of palm trees that are very common in Spain, they all originate from other continents. the palm, on the other hand, is an autochthonous plant species of Europe. This palm tree receives different names depending on the area in which it is found: margall, margalln, margajn, dwarf palm, palmiche, heart of palm. This piece specifically came from an old olive mill for the extraction of olive oil. The wrapper was made by hand using a technique that is passed down from generation to generation (see photo) and still prevails in some small towns in the Ebro Delta (Southern Catalonia). It has a small flaw in the base, it is sent with the palm mat on which it rests. Perfect for any corner and to give atmosphere by combining more modern styles.
